Thinking she was alerting him to something ahead, he backed up — shearing off both of their toddler Ireland Nugent’s feet at the ankles and leaving one of her hands injured but intact.
The Florida man, 47, unwittingly dragged his child under the mower — shattering the evening calm and an idyllic life — before even noticing, as the tragedy unfolded in front of their Westlake Village subdivision in Palm Harbor 7:33 p.m. Wednesday, said detectives.
He immediately turned off the engine, but it continued to roll backward down the driveway, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said.
